Privacy Policy

Obriy is built as a local-first hiking route planner. The app stores your routes, waypoints, tags, recordings, and related hiking data on your device by default.

This policy describes the information Obriy may process, when information is shared with Apple or third-party services, and the choices you have.

Information you create in Obriy

When you use the app, you may create route plans, waypoints, waypoint notes, route descriptions, tags, favorites, GPX imports, GPX exports, offline map regions, tracking sessions, and recorded track points.

This app data is stored locally on your device. Obriy does not require an Obriy account to create or view saved routes.

Location information

Obriy requests location access so it can show your position on the map and record your hike when you start tracking. Location data may be used to calculate route progress, distance, elevation, waypoint proximity, and off-route status.

Recorded tracking data is saved on your device as part of your route or hiking history. You can control location permission in iOS Settings.

iCloud sync

If you enable iCloud sync, supported Obriy data can sync through Apple iCloud and CloudKit so your routes are available across your devices. Apple handles that sync under your Apple ID and Apple privacy settings.

If you turn off iCloud sync, Obriy keeps using local device storage unless you choose to delete app data.

Map, search, routing, and elevation services

Obriy uses Mapbox to display maps, search for places, route between waypoints, download offline map data, and support elevation-related features. When you use these features, requests may include map areas, coordinates, search text, route endpoints, or route geometry needed to provide the feature.

Mapbox processes those requests under its own terms and privacy policy.

Purchases and subscriptions

Obriy uses Apple StoreKit for subscriptions, purchases, transaction status, and purchase restoration. Payment and billing information is handled by Apple. Obriy receives purchase status needed to unlock premium features.

Analytics and diagnostics

Obriy may use TelemetryDeck to understand high-level app events such as route creation, imports, exports, subscription actions, paywall presentations, offline downloads, and tracking actions.

Obriy may use Sentry for crash reporting, performance diagnostics, profiling, screenshots, view hierarchy, and related diagnostic context. These reports help identify and fix app problems. Diagnostic data may include technical information about the device, app state, and information visible in the app when a problem occurs.

Files you import, export, or share

When you import a GPX file, Obriy reads the file to create an imported route and related waypoints. When you export or share a route, the exported GPX file may include route tracks, coordinates, elevations, and annotated waypoints.

After you export or share a GPX file, the destination app, service, or person you choose may handle that file under their own rules.

Website

The Obriy website provides product information and legal pages. It does not require an Obriy account. Your browser, hosting provider, or network provider may process standard technical information needed to load the site.

Your choices

You can manage location permission in iOS Settings, enable or disable iCloud sync in the app where available, delete routes and other app data in Obriy, cancel subscriptions through Apple, and choose whether to export or share GPX files.
